The Ural Mining University has confirmed its status of one of the most sporting higher educational establishments in Russia.
Each year, the Day of Running brings together hundreds of thousands of people all over Russia. The eighth "Cross of the Nation" dedicated to the World University Games in Kazan and the Winter Olympics in Sochi took place on September 25.

Almost 40 thousand citizens of Yekaterinburg including members of the Sverdlovsk Region Government, Yekaterinburg administration, professional athletes, and thousands of unprofessional runners took part in amateur athletics competitions. Distances from one to twelve meters along Lenin Avenue were run by the students and staff of the Ural Mining University, pupils, teachers, and famous people of our city including heads and representatives of regional ministries, as well as deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk region.


The start to one of the most popular sports holidays was given by the Governor Alexandr Misharin. He ran the VIP-race of 2014 meters together with the Chairman of the Regional Government Anatoliy Gredin, the Minister of Physical Culture, Sport and Youth Policy, Leonid Rapoport, the head of the department for the development of physical culture and sport of Yekaterinburg administration, the Master of Sports of International Class Lyudmila Fitina and the Honoured Master of Sports Olga Kotlyarova.


After that, the distance was run by the representatives of big business and banks, athletes with disabilities, amateur teams, representatives of urban areas, and university teams of Yekaterinburg.

Sports patriots of the Mining University could not miss such an important event in the life of the country because the "Cross of the Nation" attracts young people to physical training and promotes healthy life style. And this is precisely what the oldest university of the Urals can be proud of! Once again the Ural Mining University has confirmed its status of one of the most sporting higher educational establishments in Russia.
