The name of the Rear Admiral Alexandr Fedotenkov has gone down in history of the Ural State Mining University Museum
The other day the delegation of the Black Sea Fleet awarded by the Order of the Red Banner and headed by the Rear Admiral Commanding of the Black Sea Fleet Alexandr Fedotenkov arrived in Yekaterinburg to sign agreements with the subjects of the Ural Federal District. Last weekend, the residence of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the Ural Federal District hosted a solemn ceremony of signing cooperation agreements between the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, and Kurgan regions and the Black Sea Fleet. It was attended by the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Alexandr Misharin, the Governor of the Kurgan Region Oleg Bogomolov, and the Deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Yuriy Klepov. The agreement on cooperation to strengthen and develop military and patronage ties between the Ural regions and the Russian Black Sea Fleet command provides for the organization of military patronage and patriotic education of prospective conscripts as well as the control over those from the Urals doing military service at the Black Sea. In accordance with the signed agreement Yekaterinburg citizens will take the patrol ship "Smetlivyi" currently involved in the combat service at the Black Sea under their patronage.
History of cooperation between the Black Sea Fleet awarded by the Order of the Red Banner and the subjects of the Ural Federal District has deep roots. Two infantry regiments of Yekaterinburg and Tobolsk took part in defence of Sevastopol. They displayed unexampled heroism in the course of the first Crimean defence. And what happens now can be called the revival of historic tradition.
During its visit to Yekaterinburg the delegation of the Black Sea Fleet got acquainted with the city, visited New Tikhvin Monastery and the Ural Geological Museum of the Ural State Mining University. Alexandr Fedotenkov was fascinated by the mineral wealth of the Urals - collections of minerals and rocks – and gladly signed in the visitors’ book writing his name in history of the museum and the Mining University.
